MIAMI (Sept. 29, 2019) -  The FIU women's soccer team fell to Marshall at home by a score of 6-0, as the Panthers wrapped up a two-game home stint in Miami on Sunday afternoon.

The Panthers' record now stands at 2-8 for the 2019 season, while the Thundering Herd improve to 3-8. FIU holds an 0-3 record in C-USA  play this year, while Marshall stands at 1-2 in conference play.

Marshall led 3-0 after the first half, as the Thundering Herd saw scores from Marah Abu-tayeh, Morgan White, and Metztli Gonzalez. The Panthers recorded five shots in the first half — including three on-goal — with Rayquel Berry, Ellen Halseth, and Laura Chavez all contributing shot attempts.

In the second half Marshall was able to tack on three more scores, as FIU did its best to stave off the Herd attack, but fell eventually to their conference rival at FIU Soccer Stadium.

Berry led FIU with three shots on the day, while Halseth and Berry both contributed two shots-on-goal. Freshman goalkeeper Sarah Ward and junior transfer Gabriela Rodrigues saw the first action of their FIU careers, with Ward grabbing a save on the day. Olivia Sandahl, Ashley Adams, and Sierra Moss all logged a full 90 minutes in the match.

UP NEXT
The Panthers hit the road this week to battle two more C-USA foes when they travel to Southern Miss on Friday, Oct. 4, before heading to Louisiana Tech on Sunday, Oct. 6. Kickoff against the Golden Eagles is set for 5 p.m. ET, while the match versus the Bulldogs is scheduled for a 2 p.m. ET start.
