MIAMI (Sept. 6, 2019) - FIU volleyball took advantage of a little home cooking on Friday, as the Panthers picked up a pair of wins over Stetson and Hofstra. With Friday's victories, FIU improves to 2-3 on the season.Â
Despite dropping the first set to the Hatters, FIU won six straight sets overall on the day to pick up the pair of wins over Stetson (3-1) and Hofstra (3-0). FIU defeated Stetson, 16-25, 25-14, 25-18, 25-19, before downing 2018 NCAA Tournament participant Hofstra in three sets, 25-17, 25-18, 25-22.Â
Gina Lipscomb led the Panthers on the attack, after earning 14 and 13 kills respectively on the day.
Sidney Henderson finished the day with 22 kills, earning 11 each in both contests on Friday. Setter
Abbie Hughes finished the day with a double-double against Stetson, while nearly missing out against Hofstra.Â

FIU hits the road for the next eight matches, before returning home to host Florida Atlantic on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. ET.Â
