MIAMI (Jan. 16, 2020) – The FIU men's basketball team welcomed Conference USA foe UAB to the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on Thursday night. The Panthers topped the Blazers 93-68 to remain undefeated at home this season.
With the victory, FIU moved to 12-6 for its 2019-20 campaign and 3-2 against league opponents. UAB dropped to 11-7 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
The Panthers got off to a hot start in the first, shooting 60.7% from the field to lead the Blazers 45-24 when the teams went to the locker room. The squad was also 9-12 from behind the arc and 2-2 from the foul line in the opening stanza. Eric Lovett led FIU with 12 points, and Osasumwen Osaghae tallied a pair of blocks before the break.
The team continued to dominate, shooting 65.4% from the field in the second half to close out the 93-68 victory over the Blazers. The team went 7-11 from three-point range following the break to finish with a 69.6% average in the contest, which is the highest three-point percentage in program history when attempting 10 or more shots.
Lovett closed out the win with a season-high 23 points while Trejon Jacob followed closely behind the junior with 21 points of his own. Devon Andrews recorded 15 points, and Osaghae posted a squad-best six rebounds and five blocks in the victory.

The FIU men's basketball program welcomes back its alumni to the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on Saturday, Jan. 18, for the Panthers' game against Middle Tennessee. Tipoff from the Conference USA clash is set for 7 p.m. ET. The 2019-2020 campaign marks the 25th anniversary of the banner season, which resulted in the program's first NCAA appearance.
