Panthers Rout Blue Raiders

FIU took down Middle Tennessee to remain undefeated at home this season.

MIAMI (Jan.18, 2020) - The FIU men's basketball team welcomed Middle Tennessee for a Conference USA game at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on Saturday night. The Panthers topped the Blue Raiders 83-69 to move to 9-0 at home.

With the win, FIU moves to 13-6 for the season and 4-2 against league opponents. MT goes to 4-15 for its 2019-20 campaign and 0-6 against conference teams.

In the first half, the Panthers shot 43.8% as a team, and FIU held the 44-35 advantage when it came time for the teams to head to the locker room. Trejon Jacob and Devon Andrews tallied nine points each in the opening stanza to lead the Panthers. Osasumwen Osaghae followed closely behind with eight points and notched five rebounds.

Following the break, FIU went 13-33 from the field but held the opposition to just 31.3% shooting. The Panthers went 40% from beyond the arc in the second half, closing out the 83-69 victory over Middle Tennessee.

Osaghae posted his fifth double-double of the season, recording 18 points and 11 rebounds. Andrews also posted a squad-best 18 points, and Antonio Daye, Jr. tallied 14 points and five assists.





UP NEXT
The Panthers travel to Norfolk, Virginia, for a conference game at Old Dominion. Tipoff from the conference class is slated for 7 p.m. ET.
