MIAMI (Jan. 17, 2020) - Tennis season is back and the FIU Panthers are headed to Orlando to take on Iowa in the 2020 USTA National Campus Collegiate Series on Monday, Jan. 20.
Kicking off the 2020 season, the Panthers are slated to take on the Hawkeyes at high noon at the National Campus.

WHAT RETURNS
FIU is led by junior
Sandra Bozinovic and the sophomore duo of Umarova and Akbas. The veteran group led the Panthers to an 11-8 record last season and were 4-1 overall in conference play. FIU built a nine-match win streak during the year, on its way to a quarterfinal appearance at the C-USA Championships.
WHAT'S NEW
The Panthers welcome a crop of four newcomers this season.
Marina Alcaide, a junior transfer from VCU, along with three new freshmen;
Ashley Vielma,
Francisca Vergara and
Kristina Miletic are the newest additions to the 2019-20 roster.
SCOUTING THE HAWKEYES
FIU is undefeated against Iowa, holding a 2-0 all-time record. Most recently, the Panthers and the Hawkeyes met this fall at the FIU Invitational with the Panthers sweeping all six singles matches in a non-dual round-robin format. The Hawkeyes are led by senior Elise Van Heuvelen Treadwell, a three-time All-Big-Ten selection.
