CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Jan. 25, 2020) – The FIU men's basketball team faced Conference USA foe Charlotte at Halton Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers fell to the 49ers 75-49.

With the loss, FIU moved to 14-7 for the season and 5-3 in league play. Charlotte goes to 12-7 on the year and 6-2 against C-USA opponents with the win.

The Panthers began the contest shooting 40.7% from the field but just 14.3% from behind the arc. Antonio Daye Jr. led the FIU with eight points to open the game, but the team headed to the locker room trailing the 49ers 29-26.

Coming out of the break, FIU continued to struggle, shooting just 24% from the field and 16.7% from three in the second half. The opposition held all the momentum, going 17-26 in the final period, handing the Panthers the 75-49 loss.

As a team, the Panthers finished shooting 32.7% from the field and 15.8% from beyond the arc. Eric Lovett closed out the game with 15 points to lead all Panther players while Daye Jr. followed closely behind the junior with 12. Osasumwen Osaghae recorded five rebounds and a pair of blocks in the loss.
