MIAMI (Oct. 16, 2020) – Fall Ball 2020 concluded with fireworks on Thursday night, with Derek Cartaya's Gold squad topping Daniel Brown's Blue team 1-0 in a sudden-death tiebreaker.

Gold dominated game one on Monday by scoring early and often in a 20-6 victory. Game two was played to a 3-3 tie and was called after 11 innings on Tuesday before a scheduled off-day on Wednesday.

Blue's bats came alive to tie the series on Thursday with a 9-8 victory and force the tiebreaker.

After much deliberation, a bases-loaded, one-out scenario was introduced to decide the series.

Gold received a strikeout and a groundout from Zac Lampton in the top half of sudden death, before freshman shortstop Steven Ondina singled home Alec Sanchez to win it for the Gold team.

This year, FIU returns a hungry veteran leadership core reinforced by some of the country's best underclassmen. The Panthers were off to their best start since 2014 before the 2020 season was halted back in the spring.
