MIAMI (Dec. 16, 2020) – The FIU women's basketball team topped Flagler College 97-64 on Wednesday night, behind
Alma Danielsson's 20 points and
Jiselle Thomas' double-double, as the Panthers earned their third-straight win.
With the win, FIU improves to 3-1 and 2-0 at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on the young season. Additionally, the 3-1 mark is the program's best four-game start since the 2006-07 season.
With FIU's 96-point game on Monday and Wednesday's 97 points, the Panthers have now scored 90-plus in back-to-back games for the first time since the 1997-98 season.
Joining Danielsson in double figures, Thomas pulled down 11 rebounds while scoring 19 and
Alexus Wykoff added 10 more points of her own. All 11 Panthers saw action on Wednesday night for the second time in as many games.
FIU and Flagler were tied at 10 with 5:17 remaining in the opening frame, before the Panthers closed the first quarter on a 12-5 run to separate the two teams for good. The 33-point margin of victory was FIU's largest lead of the night.
FIU's longest homestand of the season continues on Sunday, Dec. 20, against FGCU. Tip is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET and will be streamed on CUSA.tv.
