DALLAS (Feb. 17, 2020) – For the first time in his Panther career, FIU baseball's Jose Garcia was named Conference USA Hitter of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon. 
 
Garcia led the offensive barrage on an Opening Weekend that saw a total of 46 Panthers cross home plate in the three-game series sweep against Fordham. The series sweep for FIU was its first to start a year since the four-game sweep over Rutgers to begin 2014. The 46 runs scored were also the most in a three-game series for FIU since 2013. 

The FIU designated hitter went 7-for-12 with a pair of doubles and a home run on Sunday to cap his weekend. Garcia also drove in six runs and scored six times himself.
