DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (Feb. 18, 2020) - The FIU baseball team kept its unbeaten record intact Tuesday night as the Panthers downed Bethune-Cookman on the road, 6-1.
With the victory, the Panthers improve to 4-0 on the year ahead of George Mason's visit to Miami for a three-game set this weekend. The loss for Bethune-Cookman was its first of the season, as the Wildcats fell to 3-1.
The Panthers got run support early as FIU scored in four-straight innings to stretch its lead to 6-1.
FIU's
Angel Tiburcio received the win on the mound after allowing just one run and striking out six batters. The Panther bullpen combined for five scoreless innings and allowed just a pair of hits in relief.
Juan Teixeira hit 2-3, with his RBI double in the second inning opening the scoring barrage for the Panthers.
Alec Sanchez collected a game-high three hits, while
Justin Farmer added an RBI triple to go along with his successful day.
KEY STAT
FIU swiped five bases on Tuesday night, with Teixeira owning two of those.
