MIAMI (Feb. 22, 2020) - FIU baseball continued to roll on Saturday night, as the Panthers erupted for 16 runs to blow past George Mason and stay unbeaten.
The Panthers move to 6-0 with the win and have now outscored foes 73-16 on the year. The 73 runs scored for FIU currently rank as the fourth most in the nation.
The score was knotted at 4-4 heading into the bottom of the fifth, but the Panthers scored 12 unanswered runs to rock the Patriot pitching staff and secured the 16-4 victory.
Ben Rozenblum led the Panthers at the plate, driving in four runs and going 3-4 on the night.
Juan Teixeira went 4-5 at the dish while earning three RBI.
Steven Casey earned the win in relief after going 2.2 innings, allowing no runs and just one hit. The righty fanned six batters as well to tie his career-best for a game, which was set back in 2018.
KEY STAT
FIU hit .381 (8-21) with runners in scoring position, while holding George Mason to just .167 (1-6) in the same category.
