MIAMI (Feb. 29, 2020) - The FIU baseball team dropped its first series of the year Saturday, as the Panthers fell to visiting Pepperdine, 9-2.
FIU falls to 7-2 with the loss, while Pepperdine improves to 9-1 on the year. Sunday's first pitch is set for noon.
After scoring a pair of runs in the bottom half of the fourth frame, the Panthers trimmed the deficit to just 3-2 heading into the fifth. Pepperdine scored six runs in the ensuing innings however, as the Wave took a 9-2 decision.
Derek Cartaya,
Justin Farmer,
Juan Teixeira and
Robert Sotolongo all earned a pair of hits each Saturday, while
Luis Chavez recorded FIU's lone RBI of the night after his double in the fourth inning.
