MIAMI (Feb. 5, 2020) – The FIU men's basketball team welcomed Florida Atlantic for a Conference USA game on Wednesday night. The Panthers topped the Owls 69-50 in front of a season-best crowd of 2,734 fans.
With the win, the FIU squad moved to 16-8 overall and 7-4 in C-USA play. FAU goes to 14-10 this season and 6-5 against league opponents after picking up the loss.
The Panthers opened the game shooting 38.7% from the field and holding FAU scoreless from behind the arc. The squad held the 4-0 advantage in blocked shots and took a 32-23 lead into the locker room. Osasumwen Osaghae led FIU with nine points in the opening stanza, and Trejon Jacob logged six rebounds to start the game.
Coming out of the break, FIU kept its momentum going, posting a 46.7 field-goal percentage in the second half. The team went 6-13 from behind the three-point line and outscored the opposition 37-27 to take home the 69-50 victory.
Overall, FIU shot 42.6% from the field in the victory. Devon Andrews led all players with 15 points while Osaghae followed closely behind in 13 points and three blocked shots. Cameron Corcoran was the third FIU player to score double-figures, posting 11 during the win.
