BOCA RATON, Florida (Feb. 8, 2020) – The FIU men's basketball team faced Florida Atlantic in a Conference USA contest at Abessinio Court on Saturday. The Panthers overcame a 14-point deficit to top the Owls 66-59 on the road.
With the win, FIU moved to 17-8 for the year and 8-4 against league opponents. FAU goes to 14-11 for the season and 6-6 in conference play with the loss.
The Panthers opened the game shooting 45.8% from the field, but turned the ball over 14 times, resulting in 14 points for Florida Atlantic. Osasumwen Osaghae led the Panthers with eight points but the team went to the locker room trailing 39-27.
In the second half, FIU shot 59.3% from the field, outscoring the opposition 39-20 to take the 66-59 victory. The Panthers did not allow a field goal from the opposition during the final four minutes of the contest.
The team finished the game shooting 52.9% in the victory. Antonio Daye, Jr. tied his season best with 20 points while Devon Andrews scored 15 for FIU. Trejon Jacob was the third Panther player in double-figures, posting 10 points in the victory.
