MIAMI (May 28, 2020) - The FIU men's soccer team has the No. 18 ranked recruiting class in the nation for 2020, according to TopDrawerSoccer.com.
Newly hired head coach
Kyle Russell and assistant coach
Dannie Merida are off to a strong start in their first offseason with the program, having already assembled an impressive signing class that ranks among the best in Division I men's soccer.
FIU's group for 2020 features eight transfers and two incoming freshman. The signees include one forward (
Rasmus Tobinski, Vermont), six midfielders (
Mauro Bravo, Iona College; Renato Kauzlaric, UMass-Lowell;
Jeremiah Edouard, East Tennessee State;
Kareem Riley, Florida Gulf Coast;Â
Tavon Mussenden, Atlanta United FC; andÂ
Omri Ezra, Maccabi Herzliya FC), one defender (Philip Hildebrandt, East Tennessee State), and two goalkeepers (
Johan Peñaranda, Pittsburgh; and
Brison Moorhead, George Mason).
FIU stands as the only Conference USA school to grace TopDrawerSoccer.com's rankings for the month of May. Additionally, FIU is one of only two programs in the state of Florida to reach the top-20 – with UCF checking in one spot above FIU at No. 17.
Additional recruits are expected to join FIU's roster before the season kicks off in the fall, as Coach Russell and his staff continue to round out the 2020 class.
