HUNTINGTON, West Virginia (Jan. 23, 2021) – The FIU women's basketball team stumbled on Saturday afternoon to the Marshall Thundering Herd by score of 65-56.
Jiselle Thomas and
Kyla Nelson led FIU in scoring on Saturday with both guards earning 15 points each.
Emerald Ekpiteta was the only other Panther in double-figures as the forward notched her team-leading sixth double-double of the year after scoring 11 points and hauling in 11 rebounds.
Marshall led the entire first half holding a 35-27 lead heading into the locker room, before FIU battle all the back to take a 44-42 entering the final frame behind a 17-7 third quarter. The Thundering Herd answered with a run of their own to put the game out of reach in the fourth.
FIU returns to sunny South Florida for a two-game home set with visiting Charlotte on Jan. 29-30.
