MIAMI (Jan. 8, 2021) – The FIU women's basketball team fell 69-65 in the final moments of Friday's series opener to the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders.
FIU's
Emerald Ekpiteta led the Panther attack by scoring 19 points and pulling down 18 boards in the loss for her team-leading fourth double-double of the season.
Kyla Nelson and
Fujika Nimmo joined Ekpiteta in double figures, with Nelson scoring 17 and Nimmo adding 12 more.
The Panthers and the Blue Raiders battled back and forth all night until Middle Tennessee closed the game out on a 10-5 run over the final three minutes of the contest.
To close out the weekend series, FIU will host Middle Tennessee once again at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 8. The finale can be streamed on CUSA.tv.
