MIAMI (Jan. 9, 2021) – The FIU women's basketball team dropped Saturday's matinee contest to the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders by a score of 99-89.
Jiselle Thomas tied a career-high with 24 points to pace FIU offensively.
Kyla Nelson added 19 points for her eighth double-figure scoring game of the season.
Emerald Ekpiteta had another solid game, scoring 14 points and grabbing seven boards to lead all Panthers on the glass.
Diene Diane rounded out the FIU quartet in double figures with 11 points.
Despite being down 42-30 at the half, FIU battled back in the third quarter to take the lead with 36 seconds left in the frame before a Middle Tennessee run to start the fourth proved to be the difference on Saturday afternoon.
FIU returns to action on Friday, Jan. 15, to open the home-and-home series with FAU in Boca Raton before returning to the Ocean Bank Convocation on Saturday, Jan. 16.
