NORFOLK, Virginia (Oct. 22, 2021) – The FIU indoor volleyball team faced Old Dominion in a Conference USA clash on Friday night. The team downed the Monarchs in five sets at the ODU Volleyball Center. The score stood at 27-25, 21-25, 25-16, 26-28, 15-9 favoring the Panthers.
FIU improved to 5-11 overall and 2-5 against conference opponents. Old Dominion dropped to 11-10 this season and 3-4 against league opponents.
As a team, the Panthers posted 52 kills while hitting .182 for the match. The team held the advantage over ODU in service aces (8-3), digs (58-52) and blocks (18-14). Individually,
Giada Bianchi led the way for FIU, logging a double-double with a team-high 18 kills and 17 digs. On defense,
Valeria Santos tallied 14 digs, and
Jade Sadeiko posted 10 blocks.
The Panthers close out the series with the Monarchs on Saturday, Oct. 23, with first serve scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.
