NORFOLK, Virginia (Oct. 23, 2021) – The FIU indoor volleyball team closed out its Conference USA series with Old Dominion on Saturday. The team took down the Monarchs in straight sets at the ODU Volleyball Center. The score stood at 27-25, 25-8, 25-23 favoring the Panthers.
FIU improved to 6-11 overall and 3-5 against conference opponents. Old Dominion dropped to 11-11 this season and 3-5 against league opponents.
As a team, FIU recorded 43 kills while hitting .340 for the match. The team held the Monarchs to just 36 kills and a .162 hitting percentage. The Panthers also posted 46 digs, 41 assists, 11 blocks and five aces.
Giada Bianchi tallied18 kills while hitting .395 for the match. She also logged 14 digs, four blocks and four aces.
Fiorella Murillo was second on the team with nine kills while
Valeria Santos led the Blue and Gold with 14 digs.
The Panthers return home for their final matches at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center this season. The team hosts Charlotte Oct. 29-30 with first serve from both matches scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
