DELAND, Florida (Feb. 22, 2021) - The FIU women's tennis team earned its third win of the season on Monday afternoon as the Panthers blanked Stetson 7-0 to stay unbeaten.

The win on Monday gives the FIU tennis program its first 3-0 start to open a season since 2010.
FIU dominated from first serve on Monday, as the Panthers took the doubles point to open the match. The freshman duo of
Andjela Skrobonja and
Andreea Velcea earned a 6-2 win on court three, before the 59th-ranked tandem of
Kamila Umarova and
Basak Akbas clinched the doubles point with a 7-5 victory on court one.
All five courts in singles play were decided in straight sets, as
Marina Alcaide (3-0), Velcea (3-0) and Umarova (2-0) all stayed unbeaten and
Kristina Miletic, Akbas and Skrobonja all improved to 2-1 in singles play. Umarova's 6-2, 6-2 win on court one officially clinched the match on Monday.
UP NEXT
The Panthers have another long break in the action following Monday's match, as FIU's next contest will come on Wednesday, Mar. 17, at home against East Tennessee State. First serve is slated for Noon.
