MIAMI (Feb. 26, 2021) - After opening the year with a pair of wins, the 13th-ranked FIU beach volleyball team heads North for the Stetson Spring Fling Tournament from Feb. 27-28.

The Panthers open the tournament with duals against No. 14 South Carolina on Saturday, Feb. 27, at noon and No. 15 TCU at 4 p.m. FIU closes out the tournament when the team faces the 11th-ranked Hatters at 10 a.m. and No. 12 Florida Atlantic at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28.

During the Panther's season opener against Florida Memorial, FIU won 5-0 during a pair of duals. Federica Frasca and Roberta Ribeiro dominated on court one, taking down FMU 21-7, 21-12 during the first dual and 21-6, 21-4 during the rematch. Abbie Hughes and Paige Kalkhoff tamed their Lion foes, defeating the opposition 21-3, 21-3 on court three and 21-4, 21-5 on court two. 

FIU remains on the road next weekend when the team travels for the TCU for the Horned Frogs Challenge. The Panthers open the tournament with duals against Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) foes UAB and No. 15 TCU on Friday, March 5. FIU finished the weekend against conference opponent Southern Miss and a rematch with the Horned Frogs on March 6.
