MIAMI (March 19, 2021) - No. 13 FIU beach volleyball topped North Florida and Florida Memorial during the first day of the Panther Beach Battle at the FIU Beach Courts on Friday. The Panthers took down UNF 4-1 and FMU 5-0.
Gina Lipscomb and Lina Bernier continued their winning ways, extending their streak to 13-straight matches. The duo topped North Florida 21-13, 21-12 on court two, and Florida Memorial 21-8 during both sets on court one. Abbie Hughes and Paige Kalkhoff dominated on court four, taking down the Ospreys 21-5 in both sets and the Lions 21-1 in both sets on court three. Rachele Mancinelli and Giada Bianchi are now 11-2 this year, riding an eight-match winning streak. The pair won 21-19, 21-17 against UNF on court five and 21-13, 21-6 against FMU on court four.
FIU is back in action with the second day of the Panther Beach Battle on Saturday. The squad faces Florida Memorial at 11 a.m., and North Florida at 1 p.m.
