MIAMI (March 20, 2021) - It was a dominating performance from start to finish for the FIU men's soccer team on Saturday afternoon, as the Panthers beat the visiting UAB Blazers 4-0.
With the win, FIU improves to 3-2 on the year and 2-1 in conference play.Â
The Panthers pounced on the Blazers right out of the gate, as FIU scored goals in the third and fourth minutes on Saturday. The two scores came from
Alessandro Campoy and
Errol Spence, with the first goal being assisted on by
Stephen Afrifa.
The Panthers scored their third goal of the half in the 39th minute, as Campoy converted a penalty kick to make it 3-0.Â
Following a short break for halftime, the Panthers continued the scoring barrage as FIU netted its fourth and final goal of the game, afterÂ
Rasmus Tobinski headed in a shot off a
Matias Barraza corner kick in the 52nd minute. Â
Between the posts,
Johan Peñaranda continued his outstanding play as the keeper collected five saves on 11 shots faced and earned his second shutout of the year.Â

The Panthers will now hit the road for Charlotte on Saturday, March 27. First kick is slated for 2 p.m.Â
