MIAMI (April 3, 2021) - The FIU men's soccer team earned a hard-fought draw against visiting Kentucky on Saturday night, as the Panthers and Wildcats tied at 1-1.

FIU has not lost a match to UK since 2015, as the Panthers have won or notched a draw in the last six contests against the Wildcats. 

Matias Barraza put FIU ahead 1-0 in the 33rd minute, after a beautiful pass from Mauro Bravo set up the senior for his first goal of the season. 

The Wildcats responded in the 49th minute coming out of the break, as UK blasted a long-range shot to tie the game at 1-1. 

Johan Peñaranda continued his outstanding play between the posts, after earning nine saves on 19 shots faced. The junior has now earned 36 saves on the year, which ranks second among C-USA keepers. 

UP NEXT
FIU will host South Carolina for the final home match of the spring slate, as the Panthers and Gamecocks battle on Saturday, April 10, at Noon. The contest will serve as Senior Day for the Panthers.
