MIAMI (April 10, 2021) - The FIU men's soccer team put up a great fight on Saturday, but ultimately fell to visiting South Carolina in the home finale, 3-2.

After falling behind 1-0 early, the Panthers struck back to tie the game in the 16th minute as
David Garcia scored off a corner kick from Barraza.Â
The Gamecocks scored two more times in the 17th and 40th minutes following a breakaway goal and penalty kick. FIU narrowed the gap right before halftime however, as
Stephen Afrifa scored with just two seconds remaining to make it 3-2 at the break.Â
Despite five goals in the first 45 minutes, both teams were held scoreless in the final 45 minutes as the Gamecocks took the 3-2 decision. FIU finished the match with a 21-10 advantage in shots.Â
UP NEXT
FIU will play its rescheduled road match with Charlotte on Wednesday, April 14 at 2 p.m. ET. The Panthers will conclude the regular season next Saturday, April 17, as FIU travels to Old Dominion.Â
