MIAMI (March 26, 2021) - The No. 13 FIU beach volleyball team opened the Surf & Turf Invitational with games against Tampa and No. 12 Florida Atlantic at the FIU Beach Courts on Friday. The team topped UT 3-2 and fell 3-2 to the ranked Owls.
Paige Kalkhoff and
Abbie Hughes were the only Panther pair to go undefeated on the day, topping Tampa 21-15, 21-14 and FAU 21-17, 19-21, 15-13 on court four.
Federica Frasca and
Roberta Ribeiro won on court one 21-18, 21-12 against the Spartans. On court five,
Giada Bianchi and
Rachele Mancinelli took down the Owls 21-14, 17-21, 18-16.
FIU closes out the tournament on Saturday, March 27, with contests against Tulane at 11:30 a.m., and No. 20 Florida Gulf Coast at 3 p.m.
