MIAMI (April 25, 2021) – Despite a late-inning rally, the FIU baseball team fell 8-7 on Sunday to the visiting Owls of FAU.
Adrian Figueroa and
Ben Rozenblum each had two hits and two runs batted in on the afternoon, while
Mario Zabala had two hits of his own. Catcher
Luis Chavez also had a hit and two driven in on Sunday.
FIU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning when Rozenblum doubled home Cartaya before the Panther left fielder scored on a wild pitch. The two teams traded runs until FAU scored four unanswered to take an 8-4 lead into the bottom of the ninth.
In the home half of the final frame, FIU sent nine Panthers to the plate which led to three runs. FIU would go on to load the bases, but couldn't overcome the deficit in the end as the Owls won 8-7.

FIU and FAU will play another four-game weekend series starting on April 30 in Boca Raton.
