DENTON, Texas (April 25, 2021) - The FIU women's tennis team fell to top-seeded ODU in Sunday's Conference USA title match, as the Panthers dropped a 4-2 decision to the Monarchs in Denton, Texas.
The loss was the first for FIU this season, as the Panthers fall to 12-1 on the year.Â
Kamila Umarova and
Andjela Skrobonja knocked off ODU's 60th-ranked doubles pair with a 6-1 victory, before
Basak Akbas and
Kristina Miletic fought back to win their tiebreaker and give the Panthers the early lead after winning the doubles point.Â
Skrobonja put the Panthers up 2-0 after a straight-set win on court four, but the Owls took the next four singles matches to earn the 4-2 victory.Â
Skrobonja finished the weekend 4-0 in singles play at the C-USA Championship.Â
