MURFREESBORO, Tennessee (May 15, 2021) - Sophomore Queshun Watston-Riggins set a school record and took gold in the long jump to highlight day three of the Conference USA Championships for FIU.
Watson-Riggins leaped 7.82m - surpassing the previous school record of 7.80m set by Aubrey Smith at the 2014 C-USA Championships. For Watson-Riggins, it smashed his previous PR of 7.43m set at conference two years ago.

Desmond Dorecus, who set a school record in the discus weeks ago at North Florida, broke that record with a mark of 54.09m to take fifth.
In the throws, freshman
Michaelle Valentin placed fifth in the discus with a personal best mark of 48.46m - fifth all-time in FIU outdoor history, surpassing Christina Raphael's throw set at the Sun Belt Championships in 2011.
Filippa Miller earned a fourth place finish in the pole vault with a mark of 3.93m to earn five points for the Panthers. Nicole Janse Van Rensburg followed close behind, with a mark of 3.83m to place sixth.
On the track,
Daira Deicmane qualified for the finals of the 800 with a time of 2.11.40 - which tied her for the second fastest 800 time in FIU outdoor history, knotted with Dalia Clarke's performance at the Sun Belt Championships in 2005.
Leonarda Farkas qualified for the finals of the 1500 with a 4:39, while Alenjandro Garcia also qualified in the event finishing in 3:58.
Kaylen Clark snagged the final qualifying spot in the 400 with a time of 55.78.
Action on the final day of the Conference USA Championships begins tomorrow at 1 p.m. with the women's shot put, men's triple jump, and men's javelin.
