NASHVILLE, Tennessee (May 18, 2021) – To conclude the 2021 season, the FIU baseball team dropped a road contest to the No. 3 Vanderbilt Commodores.
Panther outfielder
Justin Farmer opened the scoring in the top of the first with a solo homer to give FIU a 1-0 lead. The solo shot was Farmer's team-leading ninth homer of the season.
Vanderbilt scored 17 runs over the next six innings before
Ben Rozenblum drove in
Steven Ondina on a RBI groundout in the top of the seventh to cut the Vanderbilt lead to 17-2.
In the very next at-bat,
Francis Villaman muscled his first-career homer over the monster wall down the left field line.
Dante Girardi scored on the no-doubter off the bat of Villaman to make 17-4.
The Commodores answered back with a trio of runs in the eighth to round out the 20-4 victory.
