MIAMI (May 2, 2021) - The FIU softball team won its home finale on Sunday, as the Panthers defeated WKU 3-2 at Felsberg Field.
Sunday's game was knotted up at 1-1 in the third inning, before
Venessa Gallegos singled to right field and brought home a pair of runs to put the Panthers up 3-1.
WKU scored a run in the top of the seventh to threaten the lead, but freshman
Brooklynn Linneman preserved the victory and earned her first career save as a Panther.
Brittany Phillips led the Panthers at the plate with a pair of hits, while
Tori Jones earned an RBI with her single to tie the game in the second inning. Jones has earned three hits in her last three games since coming back from injury.
In the circle,
Kallie Jones pitched six full innings in relief to earn her second win of the season. The righty struck out three and allowed just one run.
UP NEXT
FIU will conclude the regular season next weekend at Middle Tennessee on May 7-9, as the Panthers travel to Murfreesboro for a four-game series.
