DALLAS (May 25, 2021) – Adrian Figueroa of FIU baseball was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Figueroa enjoyed a stellar rookie campaign at first base and was the only Panther to start in all 51 games. Figueroa led the Blue & Gold in batting average (.324), hits (59), doubles (12) and at-bats (182) while ranking second in slugging percentage (.423), runs scored (36), runs batted in (32) and total bases (77).
The Doral, Florida native became the first freshman to lead FIU in batting average since current World Series champion and LA Dodger Edwin Rios accomplished that feat with a .332 average in the 2013 season.
Figueroa enjoyed a 13-game hitting streak through the heart of the season, which was the longest hitting streak by a Panther freshman since Brandon Gomez had a 15-gamer during the 2014 season.
