MIAMI (Aug. 18, 2021) – The FIU women's soccer team is set to kick off the Fall 2021 season this Thursday, Aug. 18, when they welcome the Stetson Hatters to FIU Soccer Stadium beginning at 6 p.m. ET.

The match will be broadcasted live on CUSA.tv. Live stats for the match can be found here.

The upcoming campaign will mark the Panthers' first full season under Head Coach Jonathan Garbar, after the 2020 season was shortened due to the global pandemic. FIU totaled its most wins since the 2016 season under Garbar's direction last spring.

With a roster that features 17 newcomers, including 10 freshmen and seven transfers, the Panthers are looking to continue their momentum and build on the foundation that Coach Garbar and his staff have laid in place. The Blue & Gold will be led this season by team captains Sydney Amparo, Camille Sahirul, and Casey Kane.

SCOUTING STETSON:
FIU leads Stetson 5-4-1 in the all-time series. The Panthers and Hatters last faced off during the 2020-21 spring season, with FIU falling by a score of 3-1 on the road. The Hatters finished last season with a 1-7-1 overall record and were led by returning forward Jackie Fiacco, who paced the team with three goals during the spring. FIU last defeated Stetson back in the 2014 season, when the Panthers knocked off the Hatters by a margin of 2-0 in Miami.

UP NEXT:
The Blue & Gold will head upstate this weekend to take on the Jacksonville Dolphins in FIU's first road matchup of the season. First kick is set for Sunday, Aug. 22, beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
