MIAMI (August 27, 2021) – The FIU indoor volleyball team began its 2021 season with a contest against Tarleton State on Friday afternoon. The Panthers dropped the contest to the Texans 3-1. The score stood at 20-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-13 in favor of Tarleton State.
FIU fell to 0-1 on the season while Tarleton State moved to 1-1 for the year.
The Panthers held the advantage 49-39 in kills and 14-11 in blocks but the Texans led 6-4 in service aces.
Giada Bianchi led the way individually for the Blue and Gold with 14 kills for the day and tacked on 13 digs for her first career double-double.
Camila De La Rosa paced the offense with 32 of the squad's 38 assists. Defensively,
Myrthe Maring tallied 10 block assists and a solo block during the loss.
FIU looks to bounce back tomorrow against Miami. First serve from the Ocean Bank Convocation Center is set for 4 p.m. ET.
