MIAMI (Aug. 30, 2021) – The FIU women's soccer team is set to welcome an in-state foe to Miami on Wednesday night, Sept. 1, when they host the FGCU Eagles.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET under the lights at FIU Soccer Stadium.

The match will be broadcasted on CUSA-TV. Live stats can be found here.

MATCHUP PREVIEW
FIU looks to secure its second victory of the Fall campaign, after defeating Stetson in the season opener. During FIU's recent homestand, the Panthers battled till the very end against two teams that graced the most recent United Soccer Coaches' South Region poll, No. 9 UNF (0-1, OT) and No. 6 Lipscomb (0-1).

FGCU sports a 1-2 record and is coming off a no-contest match against Loyola Chicago, following a lightning delay in the second period that never allowed the game to resume. The Panthers are looking to take advantage of an FGCU defense that has allowed 8 goals in three matches. FGCU allowed two more goals that were deemed uncountable in the second half of the no-contest against the Ramblers. The Eagles' lone victory of the season came against Division II opponent Tampa (4-0) on Aug. 22.

SCOUTING FGCU
The Eagles are led offensively by Courtney Coleman and Ashley Labbe, who have each logged a goal and an assist this season. Between the posts, goalkeeper Katie Sullivan has tallied 13 saves while allowing eight goals on 41 shots faced in three matches.

FIU BY THE NUMBERS
The Panther backline has shown to be a strength of the team, with Carmen Marin (370), Reagan Bridges (370), and team captain Camille Sahirule (347) leading all outfield players in minutes-played. Ithaisy Vinoly has been stellar between the posts, posting 13 saves on 29 shots faced in the last two matches combined. Vinoly, Marin, and Bridges have not subbed out of any game this season.

FIU is looking to breakthrough offensively after being held scoreless the last two matches. The Panther attack however has shown plenty of promise, getting off a combined 24 shots in the last two contests, including 12 on-goal. Laia Muñoz Danon (4), Elli Kainulainen (3), Noemi Paquin (2), and team captain Sydney Amparo (2) lead the Panthers in points this season.

UP NEXT
FIU's homestand will come to an end this Sunday, Sept. 5, when the Panthers host Murray State. First kick against the Racers is set for Noon ET.
