STATESBORO, Georgia (September 10, 2021) – The FIU indoor volleyball team, faced Murray State in the team's opening match at the Eagle Invitational. The Panthers fell to the Racers 3-0. The score stood at 25-21, 25-21 25-22 in favor of MSU.
FIU dropped to 2-4 on the season while Murray State improved to 4-3 with the win.
As a team, the Panthers posted 33 kills while hitting .221 in the match. Defensively, the squad logged 40 digs and eight blocks. Individually,
Fiorella Murillo tallied nine kills while hitting .348 in the match.
Giada Bianchi followed closely behind with eight kills and a .231 hitting percentage.
Valeria Santos tallied a team-best 16 digs and
Yaniris Miller-Green recorded a squad-high six blocks.
The Panthers are back in action tonight against tournament host Georgia Southern. First serve is set for 6 p.m. ET.
