Fort Myers, Florida (September 3, 2021) - The FIU indoor volleyball team opened the Hilton Garden Inn FGCU Classic with a 3-1 victory over Florida A&M on Friday afternoon. The score stood at 24-26, 25-21, 25-22, 25-18 in favor of the Panthers.
FIU moved to 1-2 with the win while FAMU dropped to 2-2.
As a team, the Panthers hit .247 while holding the Rattlers to a .155 hitting percentage. The squad posted 57 kills and seven service aces.
Giada Bianchi posted a career-high 23 kills while recording a .233 hitting percentage.
Camila De La Rosa paced FIU with 45 assists and
Valeria Santos logged 19 digs.
Lisa Luini closed out the match with her first career double-double, tallying 12 kills and 12 digs.
FIU looks to keep the momentum going when the team faces tournament host Florida Gulf Coast at 7:30 p.m.ET.
