Women's Soccer Hosts Murray State on Sunday

Panthers take on Racers in Miami

MIAMI (Sep. 4, 2021) – The FIU Women's soccer team is set to welcome the Murray State Racers to Miami this Sunday, Sep. 5, to play the final contest of a four-game homestand.

Opening kick is scheduled for Noon ET at FIU Soccer Stadium.

MURRAY STATE PREVIEW
The Racers are entering this match 3-1 with their last matchup resulting in a victory over Conference USA foe FAU (1-0). On the season, Murray State has outscored its opponents by a score of 11-5. FIU and Murray State have a brief history together, with the all-time record tied at 1-1. The last matchup took place in 2014, with the Panthers taking down the Racers by a score of 1-0 in Miami.
 
SCOUTING THE RACERS
Murray State has been potent offensively this season, led by Abby Jones and Lauren Payne who each own three goals on the year. The Racers have fired been out-shot by their opponents by a margin of 48-60 this season, but lead in shots-on-goal 30-21, and goal differential 11-5. Goalkeeper Jenna Villacres has racked up nearly 350 minutes between the posts while recording 16 saves on 58 shots faced.
 
FIU BY THE NUMBERS
Nikole Solis tallied her first goal as a Panther in FIU's last contest against FGCU, while Sydney Amparo added her first goal of the season. FIU has now seen goals from five different Panthers year, with Laia Muñoz Danon (2), Ellie Kainulainen (1), and Noemi Paquin (1) also finding the back of the net. Sydney Amparo leads FIU in (4) points, assists (2), shot attempts (14), and shots-on-goal (7).
 
Backliners Reagan Bridges and Carmen Marin have not subbed out of any match this season and lead FIU with 460 minutes-played. Defender Camille Sahirul is third with (435), proving the Panther backline to be a strength of the squad.
 
Noemi Paquin (408) and Ellie Kainulainen (407) have led FIU's attacking players in minutes.
