FIU Baseball Announces 2022 Schedule

Panthers open season on Feb. 18 against St. Thomas (MN)

MIAMI (January 18, 2021) – Head coach Mervyl Melendez and the new look FIU baseball team announced the 2022 schedule on Tuesday, which includes five straight home weekends to start the season.

To open the 2022 slate, the Panthers welcome the Tommies of St. Thomas (Minn.) to Miami for a three-game weekend series that starts on Feb. 18. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. 
 
Opening night also starts a span of games where FIU will play 17 of its first 19 games inside the friendly confines of FIU Baseball Stadium. 
 
FIU hits the road for the first midweek contest of the season on Feb. 22 for the annual trip to Daytona for a matchup with Bethune-Cookman.
 
The Panthers return home on Feb. 25 to host perennial Big Ten power Michigan in a highly anticipated non-conference weekend series.
 
March opens with a midweek road trip to Tampa for a showdown with the defending American Athletic Conference champion USF Bulls on March 1. This will mark the first time the two Florida schools have met since 2016.
 
To open the longest homestand of the season, the Blue & Gold host the UConn Huskies for a three-game series on March 4-6 before welcoming fellow South Florida foe Miami (FL) to 8th street on March 8. The non-conference portion of the homestand concludes with a weekend series against Jacksonville (March 11-13) and USF's return trip to Miami on March 15.
 
Conference USA action gets underway on March 18 as the Panthers welcome the Marshall Thundering Herd to Miami for a three-game weekend series.
 
For the first weekend road trip of the season, FIU heads to Ruston, La., for a weekend set with Louisiana Tech that starts on March 25.
 
Defending C-USA champion, Old Dominion comes to Miami for a three-game series at FIU Baseball Stadium on April 1, before the Panthers play host to Bethune-Cookman on April 5 for the final home midweek of the season.
 
FIU will play 10 of the next 13 games on the road starting with a trip to Coral Gables on April 6, before heading to WKU for a three-game set (April 8-10).
 
The Panthers welcome Southern Miss to town on Easter Weekend (April 14-16) before embarking on the longest road trip of the season.
 
The cross-conference trek starts on April 22 with a weekend series at UTSA before FIU returns to South Florida to take on rival FAU in Boca Raton starting on April 29.
 
The final month of the regular season gets underway at home with a weekend series with Middle Tennessee (May 6-8) before the final road trip of the season sees FIU head north to UAB for a weekend set (May 13-15).
 
The regular season finale is slated for May 19-21 as the Rice Owls come to Miami to close the season.
 
The C-USA Tournament will be held at Pete Taylor Park in Hattiesburg, Miss., during the dates of May 25-29. Times are to be announced.
