TAMPA, Fla. (Oct. 16, 2022) – Men's Soccer was on the road, Sunday night, to take on USF with an exciting match ending in a, 3-3, draw.
The match featured a cracking start with two goals in the first four minutes.
In the second minute, the Panthers created a great chance in the USF box that ended with a penalty called against the Bulls.
Yushi Nagao would step up to the spot and beat the diving keeper to give FIU the lead.
Just a minute later the Bulls would respond with a goal of their own to even the score at 1-1.
The Panthers would jump back in front in the 31st minute. Seconds after coming on,
Fumiya Shiraishi danced past multiple defenders and delivered a precise ball to a streaking
Stephen Afrifa who finished the chance with a diving finish.
Again, USF would find a quick response. This time in the 40th minute with their second goal of the match knotting things up at 2-2.
After a slow start, the second half would see a fair share of back-and-forth action.
Freshman
Kevin Harr stepped up with important saves in the space of four minutes to keep the match tied at 2-2.
A momentum shift came in the 66th minute when USF was shown a red card.
The Panthers would retake the lead in the 80th minute after
Bernardo Dos Santos Monteiro played a perfect pass to Afrifa who blasted his close-range shot into the back of the net to bring the score to 3-2.
Seconds later USF responded again to draw level at 3-3.
When the final whistle sounded the tense match would finish in a draw.

The Panthers are back at home, Saturday, October 22 for a matchup with UAB. Kickoff at FIU Soccer Stadium is set for 7 p.m. ET.
