(RV) Men’s Soccer Wins Third Straight, Beating Temple, 3-0

Panthers have scored seven goals in last three matches

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Oct. 5, 2022) – (RV) Men's Soccer was on the road, Wednesday night, to take on American Athletic Conference foe Temple, taking down the Owls, 3-0.

In the 10th minute, captain David Garcia came up with two goal saving plays. He first cleared a ball destined for goal off the line then followed that up with a key block moments later to keep the score tied.

The Panthers quickly responded taking the lead in the 11th minute.

Carlos Scheckermann won a 50/50 ball deep in Temple territory, getting the ball to the feet of Bernardo Dos Santos Monteiro. Dos Santos Monteiro then took a few touches before hitting a curled shot that found the inside of the far post.

FIU's continued high press stifled Temple the rest of the half as the Panthers would go into halftime ahead, 1-0.

Dos Santos Monteiro would earn his brace in the 59th minute. He would go on a great run, beating his defender and eventually being taken down in the box and awarded a penalty. The sophomore would then step up to the spot and convert the chance to bring the advantage to 2-0.

Three minutes later the score would jump to 3-0. A cross would be misplayed by the Temple keeper and eventually land at the feet of Matteo Gasperoni who took a shot off the bounce and put it into the back of the net.

FIU would come close to a fourth goal a number of times and came away with an another conference victory at the end of the night.
