Panthers Finish in Second Overall at CSCAA NIC

Campbell breaks a program record in 100 IM; Horner wins Coach of the Year

ELKHART, Indiana (Mar. 12, 2022) - The FIU women's swimming and diving team finished in second place overall at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship (NIC) with a total tally of 623 points, while the Panthers saw a program record broken on the final day and head coach Randy Horner garnered CSCAA Women's Coach of the Year.

Ohio State finished in first overall with 828 points, while Tennessee trailed FIU in third place (575.5).

"Ladies had a great weekend," said Coach Horner. "They represented FIU very well on the national stage. We were definitely a dominant force here at the [NIC] meet. It was a total team effort led by our seniors. To finish second in a national-level field like this is a great accomplishment for them. We earned a lot of respect nationally this weekend." 

Kelsie Campbell broke an FIU program record in the 100 yard IM A Final with a time of 55.21 while taking a silver medal at the podium.

The senior group of Stephanie Hussey, Julia MirandaSara Gyertyanffy, and Campbell claimed a goal medal in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:18.71.

Maha Gouda won the platform event and claimed gold at the podium with a score of 279.10. 

Gyertyanffy placed fourth in the 100 IM A Final with a mark of 55.56, which marks FIU's second-best time ever in the event.
