MIAMI (Mar. 17, 2022) - FIU women's basketball head coach
Jesyka Burks-Wiley announced the latest addition to the program's 2022 signing class on Thursday afternoon, with the exciting pickup of guard transfer Kaliah Henderson from Saint Joseph's University (SJU).
"We are truly thrilled to have Kaliah join our family," said Coach Burks-Wiley. "On the court, she is a dynamic guard with great scoring capabilities. Off the court, she is an equally amazing young woman that has an incredible family supporting her. We are excited for the upcoming seasons with her!"
Henderson, is an in-state product of Tampa, Florida, joins FIU as an incoming senior with two years of playing eligibility left after completing her first three collegiate seasons with SJU. With the Hawks, Henderson played in 55 games with 22 starts and averaged 8.4 points per game, 3.9 rebounds per game, and 1.3 assists per contest. The dynamic guard average a career-high 11.4 points per game during the 2020-21 season and earned a spot on the 2020-21 Philadelphia Big 5 Team and the 2020-21 Philly 6 Team.
"I chose FIU because of the wonderful coaching staff and the family environment," said Henderson. "I know that being at FIU I will grow not only as a basketball player, but also as a young adult. I am very excited to get to campus and start life-long relationships with my teammates and coaches. Definitely excited to have some warm weather [as well]."
Henderson becomes the second member signed to FIU's 2022 recruiting class, joining incoming junior shooting guard Sariana Rodriguez from Florida SouthWestern (FSW).

As a junior in 2021-22, Henderson was the second-leading scorer for the Hawks, averaging 10.2 points per game (ppg) to go along with 5.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists.
During her sophomore season in 2020-21, Henderson appeared in 17 games with 16 starts and enjoyed a career year in which she nearly doubled her scoring average from her freshman season, logging 11.4 ppg on .425 shooting from the field. Henderson also hauled in 4.9 rebounds per game to go along with 1.8 assists per contest. Following the stellar sophomore campaign, Henderson was named to the 2020-21 Philadelphia Big 5 Team and the 2020-21 Philly 6 Team. Henderson garnered both the 2020-21 SJU Best Offensive Player Award and Most Improved Player Award following the career year.
In Henderson's freshman season, the guard average 5.6 ppg to go along with 2.7 rpg and 0.7 apg. In 2019-20, the standout guard was named a PhillyCollegeSports.com Honorable Mention, and also earned the SJU Roosevelt Hunter Community Service Award for her efforts off the court.
During her high school career at Robinson HS, Henderson racked up a total of 2,194 points and went on to be named a 2019 McDonald's All-American Nominee. After her junior season in 2018, Henderson was the Florida Association of Basketball Coaches 6A Player of the Year, as well as a USA Today's All-Florida Team selection. Henderson played three years at Robinson and led the program to a 64-12 record during the span.
Prior to Robinson High School, Henderson played her freshman season at Yokota High School in Yokota Air Base, Japan. At Yokota HS, Henderson earned the 2015-16 Pacific, Stars and Stripes, and Kanto Plains Player of the Year award.
