Dallas, Texas – Senior Parris Atkins was honored to the 2025-26 CUSA Women's Basketball Preseason All-Conference Team, conference officials announced Thursday afternoon.
The Arkansas-native was an immediate contributor in her first year with the Panthers in the 2024-25 season, notching career-highs in games played and started, minutes per game, points, rebounds and steals. The guard played in 21 games and started in 18. Atkins ended second on the team with 13.7 points scored per game, seventh in the conference. She posted 18 games of 10+ points, including three games of 20+ points. An extremely efficient scorer, Atkins shot 46.1% from the field 75.3% from the free-throw line, both sixth in the conference respectively.
Atkins also solidified herself as one of the best defensive guards in Conference USA. She finished third in the conference in steals per game, taking away on average 2.4 steals in her 21 games played, finishing the season with 51 total steals, 11th in CUSA.
Atkins' performance last season saw her awarded Second-Team All-CUSA at the conclusion of the 2024-25 campaign, one of three Panthers to be selected to postseason awards.
The Panthers were selected to finish sixth in the 2024-25 CUSA Preseason Poll, after finishing last season with an 11-19 overall record and a 7-11 conference record.
FIU Women's Basketball will open up their season on the road in Tampa when they take on the USF Bulls on November 3 at 6 p.m. The Panthers' first home matchup will be on November 15 against Bethune-Cookman at 12 p.m.
