MIAMI – Women's basketball's Judit Valero earns a spot on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District list with her performance both on the court and in the classroom.
Valero delivered a standout season, setting career-highs in almost every statistical category. The Spain native started in 26 of the Panthers' 29 games, including 25 in a row dating back to early December. The guard is averaging 9.1 points per game on the season, including 14 games in double-figures. Valero set a career-high of 19 points in a thrilling overtime victory at Middle Tennessee, and scored a crucial 16 points in FIU's CUSA tournament quarterfinals win over Jacksonville State.
Valero proved to be an all-around talent, grabbing four or more rebounds in 12 games, including a career-high nine earlier this season against Jacksonville State. A solid defender, the guard has eight games with multiple steals, as well as four blocks on the season.
In the classroom, the guard has seen much of the same success. Valero is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Sports and Exercise Science, holding a 3.92 GPA.
