CORAL GABLES, Fla (March 18, 2022) - The FIU track and field program opened up the 2022 outdoor campaign Friday, competing at the Hurricane Invitational hosted by the University of Miami.
Kristin Lubeskie's victory in the pole vault highlighted the afternoon, as the junior's mark of 4.00m neared her personal best of 4.06m which she recently set at the Conference USA Indoor Championships.
Nicole Janse Van Rensberg earned a third place mark in the event at 3.90m. On the men's side,
Kayden Cecil and
Ethan Riley finished second and third.
In the men's discus,
Desmond Dorceus started the season strong with a third-place throw of 51.17m.
Action will continue Saturday, with the javelin set to begin at 11 am, and the running events at 1 pm. Fans can catch the action live, with the meet schedule to be broadcast on ACC Network Extra beginning at 1 pm.
