FIU Men's Hoops Unveils 2022-23 Schedule

FIU has eight home dates in nonconference play, including a home MTE

MIAMI, Fla. – The FIU men's basketball team announced its full 2022-23 schedule on Wednesday, embarking on a competitive 31-game slate that includes 11 nonconference matchups, featuring eight home dates and a home MTE hosted at Ocean Bank Convocation Center, and 20 Conference USA games.

"We are beyond excited to announce the completion of our schedule for the 2022-23 season," said head coach Jeremy Ballard. "Not only are optimism and expectations running high for this season's team, but the non conference slate provides incredible opportunities to compete against top notch competition from all over the nation."

After securing the program's best start in program history last season, the Panthers tip the fifth season of the Jeremy Ballard era on Monday, Nov. 7, hosting Houston Baptist in the season opener and Florida National (Nov. 10) prior to visiting N.C. State on Nov. 15 for FIU's first ACC opponent since 2019.

Upon returning to Miami, the Panthers enjoy a four-game homestand, hosting 2022 NCAA Tournament participant Bryant on Saturday, Nov. 19, before welcoming Stony Brook (Nov. 23) and Eastern Washington (Nov. 27) to Ocean Bank Convocation Center as part of FIU's multi-team event from Nov. 23-27. FIU then tackles a three-game road swing with matchups at Florida Gulf Coast (Dec. 4) and Howard University (Dec. 13) prior to the Panthers' C-USA opener at FAU in Boca Raton, Fla. on Saturday, Dec. 17.

The Panthers then wrap up the nonconference slate with home dates in Miami against Incarnate Word (Dec. 21) and Florida College (Dec. 29).

"The battle testing that our team will receive with the non-conference schedule is especially critical with the C-USA move to a true round robin conference schedule. I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to our administration and coaching staff for their tireless work and endless support in constructing and finalizing this schedule. Panther Nation we look forward to packing the Ocean Bank arena all season long!"

FIU dives into Conference USA action on Saturday, Dec. 31, at North Texas before returning to Ocean Bank Convocation Center with a trio of home conference games against Charlotte (Jan. 5), UAB (Jan. 7) and FAU (Jan. 11). A road tilt at Western Kentucky follows on Jan. 14, while returning home to host North Texas (Jan. 16) before the Texas road swing at UTEP (Jan. 19) and UTSA (Jan. 21).

Home matchups against Western Kentucky (Jan. 28) and Middle Tennessee (Jan. 28) ensue before taking the road again with pair of away games at Charlotte (Feb. 2) and UAB (Feb. 4). The Panthers then return to Ocean Bank Convocation Center for four of their next five contests, hosting Louisiana Tech (Feb. 9), Rice (Feb. 11), UTEP (Feb. 23) and UTSA (Feb. 25), including an away matchup at Middle Tennessee during the stretch on Feb. 18.

FIU then wraps up the regular season on the road with matchups at Louisiana Tech (Mar. 2) and Rice (Mar. 4).

Denver Jones, Seth Pinkney, Javaunte Hawkins, Petar Krivokapic, Dante Wilcox and Mohamed Sanogo all return as key contributors for FIU in 2022-23.

FIU also added seven new Panthers to the 2022-23 roster, three of which were from the transfer portal. Nick Guadarrama (UNH), Austin Williams (Hartford) and John Williams Jr. (Glenville State) mark the trio of student-athletes added through the portal, while the Panthers also added high school standouts Arturo Dean, Dashon Gittens, Jayden Brewer and Darryon Prescott.

Tipoff times, broadcast designations and ticketing information are to be announced at a later date.
