Women's Soccer Pursues Third Straight Win at Lipscomb Sunday

Panthers on brink of longest win streak since 2014 season

MIAMI, Fla. -  The FIU women's soccer team looks to continue its momentum and extend its win streak this weekend, as the Panthers search for their third straight win with a matchup at Lipscomb in Nashville, Tenn., on Sunday evening.

Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022 at Lipscomb (2-3)
The Panthers enter Sunday's match riding a two-match win streak, the first for FIU since 2015, while a win over the Bison would mark FIU's longest win streak since 2014 (3 games) and longest under head coach Jonathan Garbar.

FIU's chemistry amongst a young squad full of new faces has begun to shape into form with contributions across the board, as the Panthers consist of five different goal scorers thus far on the season through four matches. The Panthers recorded a seven-goal outburst over two matches last week, sitting at nine goals total this season (4th in C-USA) – just five shy of passing 2021's output of 14 goals. Additionally, FIU has outshot its opponents 37-12 over its last two games.

C-USA Offensive Player of the Week Nikole Solis leads the Panthers with four goals (4th in C-USA), including her first career hat trick in a 4-2 win over Southern last Sunday, ranked fifth in the C-USA for points (8), followed by freshman midfielder Catherine Rapp with two goals on the season.

Noemi Paquin, Delinda Sehlin and Dominique Marcelli each follow with one goal apiece, while Paquin, Marcelli, Chinatsu Kaio, Reagan Bridges and Idelys Vazquez have also dished assists to round out FIU's point holders.

Senior goalkeeper Ithaisa Vinoly continues to anchor FIU's defensive efforts with 11 saves on the season.

LAST MEETING:
FIU and Lipscomb met early last season on Aug. 29, 2021 for its first meeting in program history, seeing the Bison hold on for a 1-0 victory in Miami after securing an early goal in the ninth minute.

SCOUTING LIPSCOMB:
The Bison enter Sunday coming off an 8-0 rout of Alabama State on Friday, Sept. 2, while holding a 2-3 mark on the season with their other lone win coming over Tennessee Tech on Aug. 21, 4-0. Sunday's match will mark another test for a young Panther squad, as Lipscomb was tabbed the ASUN preseason favorites, having won three conference titles in the past four years.

Four were tabbed to the ASUN Preseason All-Conference Team, highlighted by sophomore goalkeeper CJ Graham (ASUN Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year) and Shelby Craft (ASUN Preseason Defensive Player of the Year). Additionally, Graham, Craft, forward Molly Grant and defender Katie Hanger were named to the United Soccer Coaches' Players to Watch List, followed by Craft and Hanger also being tabbed to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List. 13 Bisons have recorded points on the season, led by forwards Kale'a Perry (3 goals) and Molly Grant (2G, 1A) with six and five points, respectively.

UP NEXT
FIU returns to action at FIU Soccer Stadium, preparing for a home tilt against Alabama A&M on Wednesday, Sept. 7. Kickoff is slated for a 2 p.m. start to be broadcast on CUSA.tv.
