ATLANTA – The FIU women's volleyball team were edged by Dayton 3-1 (26-24, 24-26, 23-25, 22-25) on Saturday afternoon in its second match at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
The Panthers (0-5) captured the opening set 26-24 after hitting .571 (16-5-28) for the stanza, but dropped the following three sets to the Flyers – none by more than three points.
Junior
Emily Meyer paced the Panthers in the loss with a team-high 17 kills. She hit .378 (17-5-45) and added 13 digs.
Senior
Athina Dimitriadis notched 12 kills and a .476 (12-2-21) percentage, while
Paige Thibault recorded a team-best 20 digs.
Senior
Camila De La Rosa directed the FIU offense with 41 assists. The Panthers hit .246 (54-20-138), while Dayton managed a .319 (61-15-144) clip.
Dayton (3-3) was led in the victory by a trio of players who finished with double-digit kills, including team-leader Grace Dynda, who registered 17.
